There’s nothing quite like the magic of a fresh- 48 session—those precious first moments when a new family begins their journey with their newest member. For the Yonke family, the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Ella Jo, was a milestone filled with joy, love, and emotions that words can hardly describe. I am honored to have been there to document it all as part of their Milestone Membership, which includes photo sessions from the hospital to happy birthday, capturing the unique, fleeting moments at every stage of baby Ella Jo’s first year.

Capturing those sweet moments in the hospital during the first hours of a sweet little one’s life is nothing short of magical. These sessions are all about the raw, unposed moments that make the early days so unforgettable. Having them to look back on is amazing because those first hours seem to fade into a hazy, dream-like memory. From the first moments of bonding between Ella Jo and her parents to those tiny, precious details—the little hands, the soft, new skin, the first family portraits—it’s a time for families to pause and remember just how small their little one was… because it is absolutely true what they say, “The days are LONG, but the years really do fly by….”

For the Yonke family, their Fresh 48 session was a beautiful introduction to their Milestone Membership. It wasn’t just about taking photos; it was about capturing the love, the bonding, and the pure emotion of this new chapter. From the moment I arrived at Brookwood Hospital, the warmth and joy in the room were palpable. Baby Ella Jo had already brought so much happiness to her family, and all I can feel is lucky to have the opportunity to be apart of such an amazing family’s story.

Brookwood Hospital: A Perfect Fresh- 48 Setting ….

Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama holds a special place in my heart, having been a labor and delivery nurse there, which is such a big reason I fell in love with newborn photography. I always feel at home walking in those doors, and Brookwood does such a wonderful job providing a peaceful atmosphere with such caring staff that all contribute to the relaxed, intimate vibe that helped make the Yonke family’s session so special. We were able to focus on the details—the tiny fingers and toes of baby Ella Jo, the way her parents looked at her with awe and love, and the pure joy radiating from her sweet family.

Whether it was the quiet moments of baby Ella Jo nestled in her mother’s arms or the looks of joy and admiration as dad gazed loving down at his new daughter, we made sure to capture every emotion of the day. These are the memories that the Yonke family will look back on for years to come….

A Future Full of Firsts…

Looking ahead, we’re excited to continue documenting Ella Jo’s growth. Each session will tell a new chapter of her story—from her first coos to her first birthday cake smash. The Fresh 48 session at Brookwood Hospital was just the beginning of this incredible adventure, and we’re so grateful to the Yonke family for allowing us to capture it all.
