There’s just something incredibly special about being invited into a family’s home for an in-home newborn session during those first sweet weeks with a new baby. When I walked into the Sparks family’s gorgeous, light and airy home in Highland Lakes to photograph their in-home newborn session, I knew right away it was going to be a beautiful one — and not just because of the dreamy natural light pouring through every window (although… that didn’t hurt 🤍).

Miss Eleanor was the star of the show, and she couldn’t have been more perfect. Curled up and sleepy, wrapped in soft pinks, and totally content in the arms of her adoring parents — I was in photographer heaven. Her four-legged big sister was so gentle and curious, already so proud to have her baby sister home. These kinds of sweet moments are always some of my favorites to capture.

And speaking of favorites… let’s talk about that nursery for a second. Eleanor’s room was absolute perfection — the prettiest pink palette, delicate bow details, and that gorgeous handmade quilt gifted by a dear friend of Brittany’s. It was one of those spaces that felt peaceful, thoughtful, and full of love — just like the family who brought her home to it.

Why In-Home Newborn Sessions Are So Special…

In-home sessions allow your newborn’s story to unfold in the space that means the most — your home. It’s where the real moments happen: rocking in your favorite chair, the baby stretching in their crib, the little in-between snuggles on your bed or couch. These are the things you’ll want to remember most. And there’s no pressure — you’re in your own space, wearing cozy clothes, with everything you need nearby. It creates a relaxed, natural environment for everyone (especially new mamas 💕).

But don’t worry — we still include a touch of that classic, timeless newborn portrait magic too!

One thing that makes our in-home sessions truly unique is that I bring a portable backdrop and stand to every session. That means you get the best of both worlds — the organic, intimate feel of a lifestyle session and the sweet, lightly posed studio-style portraits that highlight all those perfect baby details.

These backdrops are soft, neutral, and chosen to complement your home and wardrobe, so everything flows beautifully in your final gallery. Whether baby is swaddled up on the backdrop or snuggled into a basket with cozy textures, it’s such a lovely way to round out your session with a few timeless, frame-worthy images to cherish forever.
